Selling Your Home Starts With the Making the Right Impression
May 12th, 2008 categories: For Sellers
If you want buyers to be interested in your home, it is extremely important to show it in ‘best light. A good first impression can influence a buyer into making an offer if it stirs them emotionally and visually. Most buyers and real estate agents formulate a judgment entirely based on their initial observations, so it is exceedingly important to ensure they leave your property with a good conception of everything they have just seen.
A bad first impression can dissuade a potential buyer. Don’t show your property until it’s all fixed up. You do not want to give buyers the chance to use any negative first impressions they might have as means of negotiation.
Ask around for the opinions others have of your home. Real estate agents who see a number of homes on a daily basis can give solid advice on what needs to be done. Consider what architects or landscape designers have to say. Objective opinions are necessary, as it is sometimes hard to separate the personal and emotional ties you might have for the home from the property itself.
Typically, there are some general fix ups that need to be done both inside and outside. As a seller, you should consider the quality of simple things like the painting, the landscaping, the carpeting, or even the condition of the driveway in an evaluation of your home. Repainting a room, even if it is white, or steam cleaning the carpet can go a long way in putting your home in the best possible light. Further, and perhaps more important, is to thoroughly clean your house and make sure there is no clutter present, especially during showings. Time spent in making your home look great will translate into a faster sale and a greater monetary return.
