There are many reasons why Chicago remains such an attractive city in which to live. The city boasts top-notch shopping districts, all the pro sports you could want, eclectic theaters, world-famous museums and plenty of green space.
And, of course, there are the restaurants.
Chicago is a city famous for its food. We’re the kings of pizza, of course. And the city is also famous for its signature Chicago-style hot dogs.
But Chicago isn’t only about the unhealthiest of foods: The city is also home to some of the hottest high-end restaurants in the country.
Don’t believe me? Then check out this story by the International Business Times. The story reports on a ranking by Open Table of the 50 hottest new restaurants in the United States.
According to the rankings, Chicago boasts six eateries among the 50 hottest. That ranks the city behind just Los Angeles, which claimed 11 winning restaurants, and New York, which claimed eight winners. Miami tied with Chicago for third place with six top restaurants.
As the International Business Times reports, Chicago’s effort was a bit of a surprise: Our city beat out Las Vegas – which had four of the top 50 new restaurants. Sin City, after all, is known, too, for its innovative restaurants.
Two of the city’s new restaurants even made Open Table’s more exclusive listing of the top 10 new restaurants in the country.
Girl and the Goat, at 809 W. Randolph St., came in a solid fourth place on this list. This restaurant boasts a menu of 30 items all separated in the categories of vegetable, fish and meat. All of the items on the menu are meant to be shared.
Gilt Bar, at 230 W. Kinzie St., also made the top-10 list, coming in at number 9. This new restaurant focuses on great food in a casual atmosphere. Its also not outrageously expensive, a nice treat for budget-conscious diners who enjoy good food.
The Open Table list proves, once again, that Chicago is a great dining destination. It also proves again that we’re fortunate to live in a world-class city. If you’re thinking of buying a condominium or single-family home in Chicago, rest assured that you’ll be buying a residence in one of the country’s best cities in which to live.
